Inspiring Victorian mansion set in acres of beautiful grounds
The building at our nursery in Maidenhead is a detached Victorian mansion that is set in acres of beautiful grounds, surrounded by woodland. The mansion is an inspiring property in which we have created fantastic indoor environments, harnessing the best of its characterful qualities and then finishing it with the highest quality “Community Playthings” nursery furniture and a vast array of diverse resources.
Stunning outdoor environment
We have created a number of outdoor environments. We have separate areas of lawn and hardstanding for our younger and older children, so that we are able to provide them with exactly what is best suited to their age and stage of development. We have over an acre of meadow in which we take the children on ‘discovery walks’. Our Woodland Activity Centre is an exciting favourite – with our children and staff alike.
‘Our children as individuals’ is where we always begin
We begin with children; with what children already know; what they are interested in; their individual learning styles and preferences. We feel that gaining this information from those who know them best really supports children to transition into nursery life. Knowing that a baby really enjoys putting lids on boxes and pulling out scarfs, or an older child is interested in and can talk about volcanic eruptions, gives us great building blocks to positively engage children in a way that is meaningful to them.
The equipment and resources that we provide support children in their interests – and we strive to add items in when children develop new interests. Whilst we have lots of traditional and non-traditional toys for children to play with, our environments are set up for children to freely engage in whatever they would like to.
A staff team in tune with the children, supporting them on adventures
Well trained staff who are in tune with children encourage them on their adventures, supporting children’s learning and teaching them whilst engaging in activities that children really respond to. Sharing what children have been up to during their day so that parents can continue this or have conversations at home is a great way to link staff and parents together. This also works really well the other way round and we encourage families to share what they have been doing whilst away from nursery.
OFSTED have rated our Maidenhead nursery and preschool as “Good”.
